I purchased a new lid switch (part #279347) for a Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 80 (model #110.82681110). It looks very similar to the old switch but I feel like there is another part that is missing to be able to install it correctly. The new switch does not fit in the same spot as the old switch did and the lever that the lid probe hits seems to be positioned to high. My question is what am I missing? Thank you for your help.

These switches come with a medal bracket that has to be mounted with it. If bracket is not there take it back and get another one or if old switch has it use that.

It came with a small metal bracket and the lever that pushes on the switch button is attached to the metal bracket. The screw holes in the cover of the washing machine sit too high for the part we bought to work. Is there another bracket that we need to make it work? If so do you know the part number? We have looked at every possible angle to make it work and at this point it seems impossible without another piece. Thank you.

look under machine there is a plastic part that covers the switch and has spacer that go around screws I can't remember if you use the medal bracket with the plastic cover or not. Plastic part usually falls off when you take off switch.

Finally figured it out, no thanks to Sears. Sears decided to give me the part number for the dryer rather than the washer even thought I stated at least 5 times it was for a washing machine. Thank you for your help on this matter. We finally went to a little appliance store with a very helpful owner who sold us the correct part.
