I've recently finished my first skim coat job. Hated the sanding/dust but I'm ready for the next room. The previous owner put wallpaper directly on the drywall - I've gotten the paper off but the glue is still there - can I just skim coat over it?
Also, I've read comments regarding skim coating cracking after a while - is there any way to avoid this?
Thanks!

I would get a mixture of water and fabric softener and spray it onto the wallpaper glue. Let is soak for a minute, then scrape the glue off.

Ya, the glue is usually the easiest removal part of stripping wallpaper. If for some reason you can't remove it all, prime the wall with zinnser's gardz - it will help prevent paint or joint compound from cracking.
