The window in my family room is large(10x6) and I have pretty cellular blinds that fit within the casing that I paid alot of money for.
When we watch tv, the setting sun adds glare to the tv and we can't view it, I could move tv, but there isn't a better spot than where it is.
I had been thinking of tinting the windows, but then in the winter I wouldn't be able to open my blinds and let the sun in.
So now I'm thinking room darkening drapes that I can pull over when needed. I don't really care for the rubber backed drapes, as they don't hang nicely(the ones I've seen anyway!)Would a lined drape be enough over the blinds to block out the sun?
Also, in each corner I have furniture. The right corner I have a lazy boy and that's the side the drape would have to hang to the floor. The left corner is my loveseat, at an angle, and there's no room for a drape to hang, unless it's behind the loveseat.
My walls are gold, the lazyboys a brick red and the trim cream. The blinds are cream. Would I be better to match the blinds, walls or furniture?
Should I just have a full panel hung to one side that I pull over? Or would this look funny, not having anything across the top and on the left side?
Thank you all for any help you can provide.

Lined draperies should be enough to block out the glare, but it won't give total darkness.
As long as there's room and they won't get hung up, it's perfectly fine for them to go behind furniture. Most people have furniture in front of or near the window/s.
You can also have them on one side (one way draw) but they'd have to be extra wide to be able to pull it over all the way. People often have one way draw over patio doors or if there's no space at all, on one side.
Either way, you'll have to get a traverse rod or a trac system for that size window or you'll have too many center supports in the way. Unless you're also hanging a valance, you'll probably want a decorative rod because the plain traverse rods are ugly.
Are your windows 10ft wide? If so, you'll need a rod at least 150" long. You'll want to get a good rod, not a cheap one, to support the weight, depending on the panels you buy.
As for color, I'd need to see the room to give a personal opinion, but it really comes down to preference. If you want them to blend, go with either gold or cream or even a gold/cream mix. If you want them to stand out and be more noticeable, you could go with the brick red. Either/or is fine, just get what you like.
