It there some where on a hot water tank to tell which line is the cold water intake line? I don't have the manual for the tank and couldn't find it on the web so I can't just look it up.

Trace the lines to or close to their origin, see which comes from the floor/meter to supply. You could probably feel to see the temps too. I believe only the cold line has a valve to shut off to, not the hot (at least with our unit).

When facing the gas valve or electrical panels, the hot will be on the left and the cold on the right, unless of coarse, someone screwed up.
