found a great site http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/homemaking/vinegar.html#Bathroom with all kinds of uses for vinegar. It *claims* that vinegar kills germs/bacteria. Would anyone know how true this is-? There are a lot of commercial cleaners out there that claim "kills 99.9% of germs." So how does vinegar stack up? Could be a very cheap alternative if it works as well as that site claims..

Well, it's an acid, so I would think it may be pretty effective.

LOL, I'm reading a novel about Naval operations in the waters of Florida during the Civil War and the past chapter was related to the problem of yellow fever. One of the ships was rescued after the disease ravaged the crew and the relieving ship, among other things, scrubbed everything down with vinegar.

vinegar does has some disinfectant properties...it usually isnt used as such due to the odor of it...kinda hard to disinfect your home then have the smell...i would go with a good quality commercial disinfectant from a janitoral supply

some are now "green" they use citric acid as the main active cleaner
