Working a bit in the dark here as the problem is at my sons house and I am not "exactly" sure of the original cause so here goes.... The in sink aerator just hums when I turn it on so I checked inside the opening an can see nothing jamming it... ( supposedly a fork/knife got stuck at one point but there is nothing in it now)... I tried using the supplied wrench to hand crank it (both ways) and hit the reset button but it won't budge. Should I try tapping it with a hammer (other ideas appreciated) ? Or is the puppy fried?
Thanks
Bill....

Hi Bill,
When you used the supplied wrench for un-jamming, was it free moving? If it was there is nothing wrong with the mechanics of the disposal. If it still hums and you even hit the reset button, I would say the motor is fried and you will need to replace the disposal. If after using the wrench you still cannot spin the disposal, you can try sticking a stick in from the top to try to un-jam it.
