We just bought a house with new tile and new berber carpet. The problem is there is NO transition piece and the carpet is fraying. We are on a slab. What should we do? We would prefer easy and inexpensive! :)

Here is a how to for a good tile-carpet transition.

They do however, make transition pieces, but take a look at the following:
