Hi! I've just stumbled across this site and it looks like a great resource.
I'm taking apart an old PF single control shower faucet and am at a point where I don't know what to do next. I'm not a plumber by any means so please forgive me if I'm overlooking something obvious. :)
The problem I'm trying to fix is a worsening drip. I can almost stop it by positioning the hot/cold selector at a specific spot, but that spot is getting harder to locate so it's time to replace some parts.
So far I've taken off the knob, covers, collar:

Here's what I'm looking at now:

I'm not sure what to do next. The brass threaded piece with notches at the top and bottom seems to be in front of the gray washer/control unit. What needs to come out next? Tips would be much appreciated. Thanks!

i think that you can grab ahold of the large chrome sleeve
and unscrew it. then the small brass ring that is visible in the picture unscrews try that

I was afraid you'd say that. I don't see how the inner brass ring can move. It's notched at the top and the gray plastic piece has a matching protrusion that fits in it. I took another closer in pic:

The odd thing is, the brass doesn't appear to be threaded into the white plastic housing. I can't see any threads on the inside where the bottom notch in the brass ring is.
Are there any special tools I'm missing that would make this easier?
Thanks!

You have gotten as far as you can go.......get a pair of pliers and pull on the cartridge....hard, wiggle it, pull it, wiggle it some more....the cartridge will come out.

That does make sense because the collar was compressing the cartridge via the brass threaded ring. I was just not sure if I had done all I needed to before pulling. :)
Thanks for the compliment on the pics!
