I just purchased a boat and Mercury outboard motor with a tiller and it is also hooked up to remote controls on the boat. Serial number 3728770 Can you tell me the Horsepower and the year it was manufactured.

You can find out by typing the correct serial number into the parts section of http://www.mercurypartsexpress.com/us/
The number in your post doesn't seem to be a valid serial number.

3728770 is the serial no. on the engine block and the engine mounting plate. Can anyone help?

That serial number doesn't come up on the Mercury website. Have you tried e-mailing them? Some companies are very good about supporting legacy products.
I bought an old '83 Larson project boat that a previous owner had "modified". I e-mailed Larson and they sent me a complete catalog with original photos and wiring schematic to help me with the restoration.

Believe it or not it's a 1972 or 1973 7.5 HP! Someone put Model 60 and 6 HP stickers on this motor. The Ishopmarine.com site says the number is for a 7.5 HP.
Thanks

Good sleuthing! I'll bet you're happy that you got an extra 1.5 horsepower out of the deal. ;)
