I noticed when I disassembled the crankcase top and bottom that they seemed stuck together pretty well. But once apart there was no appearance of any type of gasket or form-a-gasket. On re-assembly should I use any type of compound? Thanks!

Yes, the recommended sealant is Loctite 515, but you can also use a high temp silicon sealant. Try to avoid getting sealant in the bearings.
