I have a faulty zone (window) and i want to delete it from the system. I replaced the battery but it sometimes sets the alarm off in the middle of the night, for no reason. I have the user manual but no mention of adding or deleting zones.

You will want to have an alpha keypad. You will need to access field 57 in programming to delete the zone.

The SW 3000 is a modified Vista 20p. Websearch using the phrase: "Vista 20p installer manual" for the proper instructions for your system. Take a look through the older posts on this forum, this system, and it's clones are frequent topics.
You do need an alpha keypad. It _can_ be done with the fixed language keypad, but it is _very_ difficult for the average person.

I have the same Safewatch Pro 3000EN model panel and want to delete a zone that was for an entry door that was removed during home remodeling (the wire is buried behind drywall).
I opened the connection panel in my closet, see the wires that are for that zone (the zone that indicates "not ready" each time I attempt to arm the system so I bypass the zone but that only lasts for that one time, I have to bypass it EVERY time I arm the system) am wondering if I can remove the two wires for that zone and short out the two terminals if that will make the contact that is needed to solve the issue so that station is never complained about again? I see references in the manual to zone connections shorted, intact or open but no explanation I can understand about what shorting a zone does.
I don't have an alpha keypad so I'm wondering if this would be a way to get around the problem vs. having to go into programming mode on the panel where I arm/disarm the system.
I'm a TOTAL newbie by the way, no background in security systems at all.

If this was the only opening on this zone, all you have to do is put a 2000 ohm resistor across that pair of zone terminals.

It is the only thing on that circuit. I stopped by Radio Shack and they carry 2200 ohm resistors 1/8 watt, 1/4 watt and 1/2 watt -- is a 2200 ohm resistor okay vs. 2000 ohm which Radio Shack doesn't carry? Also, any difference on the wattage rating of the resistor? Thanks!!

The 2.2k _might_ work. Otherwise, two 1000 ohm resistors in series will do the trick. There may already be a resistor on the wire that you can simply reuse. Also, there are often spare resistors tucked behind the battery (the systems come with more resistors than are needed).
