I've just layed slate tile and, although I've gone for a gap-less pattern with the tiles butted together, there are still a few tiny gaps between the tiles. These will have to be grouted but I've heard horror stories about grouting slate. Any tips, please?

First, you should not have butted slate against each other. This will be extrememly hard to grout.

When you do grout, you will need to apply 2-3 coats of pre-grout sealer, then grout, then apply a finish seal.
