Hi all,
I have a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator Model # 10659297994 bought new in 2003 and just the other day it stopped dispensing water and also making ice.
The first thing I did was replace the lower water filter in the grill with a new one and still nothing. The filter I took out was only 3-weeks old and I'm on a municipal water system with very clean water.
My neighbor suggested I replace the water valve in the rear as this happened to him about a year ago, so I contacted Sears and purchased a new valve system for my refrigerator Part # 4389177 and I still have nothing.
I confirmed that the switch on the freezer door is working and I also confirmed that I do not have any frozen lines.
Is it possible that the ice making unit is bad and there is a safety shutting the water system off?
Where am I going wrong? What can I look for next?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

What about the valve where the copper tubing taps into the 1/2 feed pipe? Shut the main before you remove it.

Pulpo,
If you're referring to the valve on the wall, I will flow test it tonight after work and post back. That wall valve, which is CPVC, was never checked. I simply closed it off before replacing the water valve assembly.
Thanks again.

I just checked the main water line and I have plenty of water.
Thanks.

This thread should have been in the appliances forum here, located down a ways.
You sound like you ask the right questions and may have the mind to diagnose. See if you can find a wiring diagram perhaps on a paper folded up and lodged in the bottom frame of the unit somewhere, if there is not a wiring diagram pasted right on the back somewhere.

ecman51,
I found no paperwork anywhere. To date I have replaced the water solenoid valves and even the ice maker itself and I still have no water dispensing.
I believe it may be in the door panel controls, but I can not figure out how it comes apart to check anything.
Thanks for the reply.
Still waterless...
