Hi. I'm new here and need some help. I need a capacitor for a Goodman CK49-18. I just purchased the house without the air conditioner working, pulled the condenser panel and found that the capacitor was missing. I'm not very experienced with HVAC but I'm pretty handy with doing things. From the schematics on the panel I'm guessing i need a dual capacitor with three prongs. It's also appeared to be round rather than oval, if that even matters. I'm unable to find much info on the condensing unit, someone stated on another forum that it's a 4 ton unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated

See if you can read the ID plate on the compressor and the fan motor. All the info you need should be right there. If that gets you nowhere then let us know and someone can probably find the info for you.
Everything can be found on the internet somewhere. Just have to know where to look.

Ok, I checked the panel again and it doesn't say anything about the MFD or volts of the capacitor. After reading some I figured it is safe to use a 440 volt even though it may be a 370 volt. I just can't figure out the MFD that I would need.
Here is what's on the panel:
Model: CK49-18
Serial: 0101432669
A.C. Volts: 208/230
Phase 1
Hertz 60
Voltage range: min 197, max 253
Min. circuit amps: 26.8
Max fuse amps: 40
Compressor RLA 20; LRA 110
Fan motor FLA 1.8; H.P. 1/4
Anyone have a resource book that has my model in it? Or does anyone know what capacitor I would need for the specs listed above?

The MFD size you are looking for should be on the compressor itself, as well as the fan. Not the tag on the outside of the unit.
The Fan motor should have a tag on it with a wiring diagram and the info about the fan motor, and the compressor should have one with basically the same info, as well as some extra stuff.

I'll check the fan, hopefully it's there. The wiring diagram was on the back of the panel that covered where the capacitor would be, but it doesn't say anything about volts or MFD, it does show that I need a dual cap though. Thanks for the tips.

Finally got to check the fan out.
HP 1/4
V 208-230
A 1.5
ROT----CAP 5.00/370
I'm guessing the capacitor I need is a 5 MDF, 370 volt? I was looking on grainger.com for one and it shows some with 2 MDF numbers. Why are there two numbers?
