washing machine will not aggitate. I can here the motor trying (hum) but the aggitator and drum will not move. It does spin and drain. I can not move the agitator by hand. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Model #ALW480DAW

Take off front panel and look at belt. See if motor is running. Dose the washer drain the water in the spin cycle? If water drains motor is running.

The motor tries to turn on the wash cycle. The spin cycle drains the water and spins the drum. The belt is intact.

Don't know these machine well only see them once in while, Look back in posts a few weeks ago one of the members said something about the brake assy going bad and was a fairly easy repair.
