Thinking about putting a bathroom in the basement - but it's below the level of the Septic Field. Read recently about Macerator toilet systems - but also heard about ejector systems. This is a 3 year old house - w/ rough in for bathroom in the basement - but as I said, it's below the level of the septic. I'm wondering what the pros & cons are of each type of system. The basement is unfinished, and the rough-in is towards the front of the house - not too far from where the big pipe angles down & then goes out through the foundation to the septic system. Also - I'm not quite sure where the "rough-in" pipes go - I think there might be a pit already there.

I lived in an apartment that had an ejector pump and it broke twice in 5 years. I never new about a macerator system until now. I just looked at it online.

I think I would have recommended it to the owner had I known about it then. That would be my choice now.
