I have a 12 x 12 wood shed sitting on a concrete slab. The T-111 siding has rotted at the bottom and allowed moisture to get into the 2x4's attached to the concrete and some of those have rotted. The rest of the shed is solid and it has a new roof so I really don't want to tear it down. I'm thinking about jacking the shed up one side at a time and pulling out and replacing the 2x4's. There are studs set in the concrete that anchor the 2x4's to the slab. These are mostly rusted and I'm sure I can cut them off flush with a sawz-all.
Problem #1: What I'm wondering is, how should I attach the new 2x4's to the slab? Seems like anchors would be too week. Can I use T-nails from an air gun that close to the edge of the slab?
Problem #2: City code required a "rat wall" under any concrete slab. Rat walls are to be 4 inches thick and 18 inches deep. Is this something I can retrofit? I would think putting anything under the slab would compromise the integrity.
Thanks in advance.
Rick
