I've been living in my first home for the last year. I noticed that my 1st bathroom needs a little work,or so I thought. I don't have the money to retile. However, what can I do for a temporary fix? The tile wall in my bath/shower has started to come part on the edge of the window. The grout has cracked on the corner and the vertical tiles are bowed and move a little. Also, I noticed that under the tile is dry wall and not cement board. What can I do till I have the money to fix it correctly...Redo the entire shower.

Tape plastic sheathing around this whole area. I'm betting there will be some serious water damage behind all this, and the window.

I don't see any reason you couldn't use silicone on the cracks. Since this is a temporary repair until you have the money to do it right, I would do anything I could to try to keep water out of the cracks so the structure doesn't get any more damaged.

I believe the tiles will fall on there own any day now. Buy some kitchen and bath caulk and use all over until its time to repair your shower the correct way, save now the tike will come sooner that you think

Hi stevearthur,
Check the wall repair section at your local Home Depot, Lowes, etc. You will find a ready to use repairing compound for tiles, ceramic, etc. It comes in a small plastic cup.
The repairs with this product are very easy, and they last

Patricia,
I'm sure tile repair is going to be the least of his worries when he/she finds out the issues behind the wall.... ;)

Mark,
The compund is not only to repair the tiles, but to set tiles also. I would use this compound and not silicone as the user is asking for a temporary solution
In my experience and according with the description, sounds like a bad tile setting

Exactly what kind of compound is this? Can you give a specific brand/name?
Tiles get set in wet areas with thinset, not "compound".

I know, but compound is a synonym of mix.
There are several brands and you will find in your local HD or Lowes in the wall repair section
