Im building a 5X8 decking w/ stairs that wraps around 3 sides, and its built over new concrete. Im having an issue with the grade, mysringer are level on 1 side, when i get to the angle that goes back towards the house im 2" different. can i just cut 2" off the bottom of the stringers on the angled section to make them level w/ the other ones? Thanks

I presume what you are talking about is that you started with the section of steps that are parallel to and farthest from the house, and you leveled these. But for the stairs you are making on the both sides - the ground (concrete?) ramps up 2 inches towards the house? Is that it? Then yes, of course, that is all you CAN do. You will wind up with say a 7 1/2 inch step-up on the stairs that are parallel with the house, and the side stairs will also start out that way, out farthest point from the house, and taper down to say 5 1/2 inches. Right? That is the only way the stairs can all be level. I have a feeling you already knew that, with you building the stairs, and only needed confirmation. :)

If you have already cut every stringer, and that is how you discovered this, then for those side-step stringers, whose ground is at an angle, you would have to cut off each stringer BOTTOM off by the necessary amount. The side stringer that is out farthest from the house where the ground is the lowest from the top of the deck would require less taken off the bottom than the next one, where the ground is higher, etc. But no other cuts with the already cut stringers would have to be altered; only that bottom flat cut that sits on the ground(concrete?

thanks-
I thought that was the only then i can do. my thought is how bad the bottom step is going to look, the three sections are going to be different heights on that first step going up. just wanted to make sure thats what i should or could do. Bode

Showtime,

I tried to experiment with gaining access to the site but it did not work.
