I bought this 20 acre farm and for the house it has a well in the pump house and a water softener and a iron bottle filter thingy.
Question: How often should you set the water softener be set to regenerate. Not sure of brand of timer gizmo but it looks like a 12 hour timer that you push connectors in or out to set how often it cycles. What is right? Two old retards (retirees)here as water users. And what about the Iron remover? how often should it flush out?

What is normal for salt usage? Been using Mortons 40 pound bags. How high should the salt tank be filled?

Our water is soft but at times smells of rotten eggs. Removed anode from water heater and that helped some.

What is a real good source to review and learn from.

Help. Please reply also directly rodstars@earthlink.net

Answering your questions will culminate in little more than a convoluting mystery wrapped in an enigma....you got the idea.

You simply don't have enough pertinent information to make reasonable suggestions.

What equipment do you have (that's a good one)? What are your water conditions? How old is your system? What is the iron thingy?

If it's a timer, I would get rid of it and buy a new demand model. You will lose so much using that one. Get a thorough water analysis and recommendations and then get back with us.

Sorry, can't be more helpful at this time.
