So I am a first time deck builder, and I have not made too many mistakes. I think I have done one, however, in that I failed to accurately plan for wanting to angle the corner.
Here is the layout:

I am overhanging the beam by the max allowed (24"), and my joists are 16" on center. If I want an angle of 45 degrees, and I want to extend out to the third joist (including rim joist), I intersect the rim joist at a point before the beam, as such:

This would give me about a 3' span for the angled section. As far as I see it, there are only three possibilities:
A) Have a smaller corner so the angled rim will intersect the rim joist past the beam.
B) Have something other than a 45 degree angle.
C) Have the intersection before the beam.
I think that B would be unatractive, and C is probably not allowable. That just leaves me with the undesirable option of A. Am I correct in this?
