Electronic Alarms and Home Security Devices - Vista 20P questions

Hi. I have an Ademco Vista 20p with ADT monitoring. I wish to add wireless glass breakage sensors throughout the house. I have the installation manual, but I'm not sure the default installer code works. Any ideas? Thanks!

It sounds like you are currently being monitored by ADT. With that being the case, you are not permitted to make changes to the system--ADT has to do it. Also, in the event you did add these glass break detectors, they would not be defined with ADT so they would not know how to respond. Even worse, they could see it is not in their zone list, treating it as an "undefined zone"--undefined zones are treating as panic alarms with ADT, meaning : no call to the premise, just sending the police, regardless of user cancel.

On top of that, which keypad do you have? You need a 2-line alpha keypad to make any changes to zone programming (6160 or equivalent).

What do I need to have ADT come to my house and do so that I can go ahead and add the glass breakage sensors? I would like to DIY these @ 20-40/per, although I know that ADT sells them for 130/per, which is way out of my price range. I need 5 sensors. Ideas/thoughts?

Re the other question, I have both the keypads w/buttons as wells as the LCD talking keypad, but I don't know the model number's to either. Where can I get this info?

Does your keypad(s) show only zone numbers and a few specific words, or does it show specific zone descriptions?

If the latter, then you have the proper hardware to install these devices yourself. Again, this assumes that you actually have a wireless receiver already in your system.
