Bought a used generator that hadn't been run for about 4 yrs and only then for 2 hrs. Had a full tank of gas which had gone bad. It will not start and will run only with starting fluid sprayed into it. Drained old gas, cleaned carb and found the fuel line at carb dry rotted and replaced. The float seems to work properly, fuel will flow when down and shut off when pushed up. Would appreciate any ideas on what else I can do to get this running. It has a 10 HP Tecumsah engine.

You may have to remove the carb and soak it in a bath type carb cleaner to get it to work right again. Take special notice of the holes in the bolt that holds the bowl on. There are 4 holes, 2 oppose each other, one down the center, and one near the top in an unthreaded section. That last one is hard to see, especially when clogged.
