If I have a 50' X 30' shop building, and plan on using 2 blub 8' fluorescent fixtures. Is there a standred on the distance they should be apart for good light spread. No windows in building, in south Texas 10' ceiling.

Thanks

Red

Try Lithonia.com, they have a calculator as do many of the other lighting manufacturers.
There are several alternatives that may make more sense for this installation such as High Intensity Flourescent Lighting.
Take a look at Orion Lighting for some ideas on it.
2 lamp 8' strips are old technology at this point in time and very inefficient compared with what is available.

10 foot ceiling is too low for the HID's but there is better alternative way to do this.

most common one I useally have done this all the time is get 8 footer 4 lamp verison which they will take F32T8 bulbs and they will light up pretty nice other wise I used low bay flourscent luminaires { they have 4, 6 bulb verison } and they will really light up pretty nice.

Your shop should take 8 low bay flourscent luminare { 6 bulb verison } and it will light up pretty nice.

I will give you my shop demison it is about 40 feet wide and little over 70 feet long { it will get semi truck in pretty easy } with 16 foot ceiling and I have 8 400 w Metal Halide lowbay luminaires on them and yes I do have 2 - 8 footers for standby light and 2 8 footers above my workbench as well.

that really light up pretty nice so you get the idea .

Merci,Marc
