Hello people- My next post really sounds silly BUT really it can be quite annoying. Here goes- my old toilet seat broke so I bought a new one and paid $25 for it- But here is the closer- ouch- the seat keeps falling- it does not want to stay up!!! I tried loosening the bolts etc etc etc- The lid stays up but the seat part has to be pushed 2 or 3 times before it stays up and for the wary tired user- LOOK OUT- any suggestions to keep this from happening?? Please advise.

Is it one of the cushion seats that just doesn't fit right? If you remove the top to the tank, does it stay in place? It sounds like the design just isn't right for your toilet.

Did you put a seat cover on it? sometimes they will not work with them. Maybe the tank is not sitting correctly on the bowl part.

Hey guys- No I have no seat cover or cushion- it is made of wood- and I tried lossening the seat and starting over-- tried to move it forward a bit- no luck-- and the seat sure seems to be the right size as the one before- either rounded or elongated- and it seems to fit just right??? I hate to keep buying seats especially since the store said that once opened there is no returns due to sanitary reasons-- what to do:o

There is only two things that I can think of.

Either the tank is not positioned properly, or the toilet has a bad casting and needs replacement.

If you turn off the water, And loosen the bolts holding the tank to the bowl, try to move the tank or pull it off completely and make sure it was seated properly. You will need to get a new tonk to bowl gasket kit with bolts and washers beforehand though.
