I'm installing a backsplash for my sister to try and help her save some dough. I've tiled a floor before but this was my first backsplash. She also wanted it on the wall over a separate section of countertop in the corner, so I started there because I thought it would be the easiest (only one outlet to tile around). I'm using 4'x4' tile set on a diagonal. Things went well except I made a mistake. I centered my tile layout on both walls, so when they come together in the corner it looks really odd. In hindsite I should have centered on the large wall and tried to carry the pattern onto the second wall. Unfortunately I didn't notice this until both were done. My sister said it wasn't a big deal and that things would be set in that corner anyhow. It really bothers me though and now I'm wondering if it would be worth trying to get the tile up and re-doing the short wall (about 36" x 14"). I'm tiling directly on the drywall, which was recently painted and in good shape. I haven't grouted yet, so that's to my advantage. Can someone who's removed tile give me their opinion? Should I try it or just leave well enough alone?
Thank you!!
Steve

You will most likely damage the drywall when removing the tile. Tile is removed using a chisel and hammer.

Drywall is not difficult to replace, so if you do rip it up, don't worry, eh?

I like to start in the corners. I will rip a tile in half, and place a half on each side to make it look like the tile wraps around the corner.

Thanks for the reply, HotinOKC. Just to give some closure to this thread ... I ended up just leaving it 'as is'. When it was grouted it didn't look near as conspicuous as I thought it would. I tiled all the other corners correctly. Sometimes things can't be perfect. I'll use it as a learning experience!!
