I recently removed a monitronics installed vista 15pmt with a 6150rf keypad, and installed a new vista 20p with a 6270v keypad and a 6150rf keypad (retaining all of the prewired and rf sensors).. I've defined all the zones, and everything seems to work, except if I open one of the rf zones (zone 9 and zone 10, both exit doors). As soon as the door opens, the system gives a zone fault on that particular door. I've tried using different zone types and input types, and have reread the manual a few times and must be missing a setting somewhere..

Ideas?

Thanks!

Ummm, "Fault" is the word that Honeywell/Ademco uses to describe an open zone. It's not a bug, it's a feature...

Thanks for the response, I guess I worded it wrong.. The fault never resets itself when I close any of the doors connected via rf. :)

The correct setting for a standard 5816 contact set as an entry/exit door:

zone type should be 01
Input type should be 2 (supervised RF)
Loop number should be 2 (the built in contact is loop _2_)

I suspect that you probably learned it in with loop 1.

You're the smart one, it was set to loop number 1, mainly because I couldnt find anything in the manuals telling me about the loop types.. What do they mean?

Also, I see that you are the main guy that responds to all the technical threads here, I sure hope they pay you well, you deserve it!

edit: just read that moderators get nothing besides a pat on the back. Unfortunately, with the help you provide, MrRonFL, I think you deserve a lot more than that. I hope that one day, I can find a way to help you on another topic.

Thanks again..

The loop types are the inputs that the transmitter has available. There actually is a chart in the install/programming manual that shows what loops correspond to which inputs on any given transmitter. It's also on the install sheet for a given transmitter.

Why Ademco chose to make the built in contact loop 2 instead of loop 1 is lost to many years of history...
