Our Toro lawn mower (model # 20072) does not self propel anymore. My husband said the front wheels started squealing than it would lock up than spin than lock up again. Now it just stays locked up. He called the local repair shop and was told it was probably the transmission, about 100.00 to fix. Does that sound right? and is there any way we could fix it cheaper? It is just over 1 year old. My husband tried removing rhe wheel and putting WD 40 in the gear but it did not help. Thanks, momxsix2

Price sounds about right, unless you do the work yourself.

If your mower is less then 2 years old, check your owners manual for the warranty statement. I believe Toro mowers have at least a 2 year warranty, and the transmission should be covered, unless you have been using the mower commercially.
