Here is what I have. I just bought an MTD Tractor with a 14.5 ohv B&S engine cheap cuz owner could not get it running this spring. B&S engine #287707-0224-1. Parts list shows either Walbro or Nikki carb. The carb that is on it is looks similar to a Nikki, but is a Mikuni #493904..0021. I don't see where B&S ever used a Mikuni on an engine this size. It wouldn't run due to water in the tank. I will clean the carb IF I can find parts for it and IF this carb will actually work on this engine. If it wont work on this engine, I will buy a new Wlabro for it(half the price of a Nikki). Anyone ever seen a Mikuni on this B&S engine? Does Mikuni make Nikki carbs?
Thanks.
I would post a pic if I knew how to.

I don't think I ever saw a mikuni on that series briggs. Do all the linkages connect and work properly? Does it look rigged, or does it look factory?

I'd rather have the walbro than the nikki regardless of price.

Cheese, it looks identical to a Nikki.Yes,everything lined up & worked correctly. I am thinking that the previous owner picked up a Honda carb cheap and tried it. I got my Walbro today.
