I assume you are talking about a shower faucet?? Not familiar with specifics, but I am not aware of any special tools required.

If you are talking about a tub/shower faucet escutcheon you possibly need a pair of pliers and a new escutcheon for when the old gets messed up. Be careful you do not break the stem or plastic sleeve that is screwed into the packing nut.
