Toilets, Sinks, Showers, Tubs and Disposals - HELP! Shower won't stop!

This has happened once before and a plumber came, but I guess he just did a quick fix.

Both hot & cold handles are turned off, but water still pouring out the faucet. The faucet has been leaking for a few weeks, not pouring out, but a steady little stream.

I have turned the water off. Is there anything I can do myself or do I have to call a plumber? And if I do call a plumber, do I have to pay them at the time of service?

The likely problem is a bad washer, seat, or gromet, depending on the faucet brand. Usually not hard to fix, but you need to know some basics. Pick up a book on household plumbing from a home/hardware store for info on what makes it work. Or shut off the water at the shutoff vales and wait for the plumber. This is something a homeowner should learn to do, if you have any skills at all with tools. If not, you are at the mercy of the plumber. But knowing the basics is still a good idea.

I guess I'll have to call a plumber. I just moved in and my boyfriend is at work until 11 pm, so I tried to find some info online. I'm pretty handy, but he doesn't really have any tools here anyway besides a swiss army knife and a wrench!

Aside from unscrewing the handles, there isn't much else from what I can see that I can dismantle. It's just a little pipe that comes out with the stem that turns the handle.

There should be shutoff valves somewhere, usually behind a cover behind the tub/shower. Turning off the water will at least save some money. It will take at least a screwdriver, and a large set of pliers, wrench works better. Is there a brand name on the faucet??
