OK in order to repair a badly damaged wall behind the laundry room sink I need to remove the sink.
It is an old concrete sink. I'd like to remove it - but in order to do so have to turn off water in the whole house. I'd like to cap it while I repair the wall.
When I put the sink back I'd like to install shut off valves and a plastic laundry sink.
I have very very little plumbing experience so need lots of help/ideas.
The pipes are copper. I hope I'm not getting in over my head but in an emergency I can always phone a plumber  - I'm trying to save by doing it myself. Thanks.

Hello, and welcome to DIY
We are here to help, but first...
Do you have any experience with soldering?
Is the drainage piping 1 1/2" i.d. galvanized pipe or something else? And what does the pipe go into after that?
I am assuming there is no vent for this sink either.
Can you take a picture and upload to a website like photobucket.com and then post the link here.
