This is the first time I am buying drapes. Had gone to JC Penney today to buy drapes for a patio window, and got an excellent deal in the clearance section. I bought 2 sets of drapes, and on the packet it said each covers 48" x 84". However, when I came home and opened the packets there are 2 drapes for 24" X 84" in each packet. Now my patio window has 4 drapes of 24" X 84". Is that an acceptable way to put drapes on a patio window.

Also, after putting the drapes, I realized that my entire window is not getting covered. So I will have to buy one more 24" X 84" drape. I like the idea of small size drapes, as they are easy to clean, but not sure if it will be wierd.

Thanks so much for your advice.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Technically, it should be one wide width per panel (for each side), however unless they're custom made or readymades in extra wide widths, people do buy more than one pair per window, then tack them (sew them) together to make it look like one.
To answer your question, it isn't going to look great with 6 hanging there, but if it doesn't bother you then you're the only one you need to please. :D

are these tab top drapes or pleated drapes that use hooks? Either way, both options are not going to function well on a door as 6 pieces..

On a door you want some sort of drape that can function so you can get in and out. If a designer came in to your home to measure for drapes on your sliding door they will probably try to sell you a large single 1 way drape.. The would put it on a way 1 traverse rod that stack the opposite side of your door..

unless you have the ability to extend your rod 12'' to the left and right of your door, 2 panels will not have the room to stack closed and still give you room to get out your door..

tab tops are simply popular because they are cheap to make and sell, they have no business on a sliding door.
