Hey all. I'm getting a framed glass shower (wall and door) for my tiled shower (two walls). What's your opinion on clear glass versus say etched/patterned in terms of both look and upkeep?

Thanks,
Nate

Mostly personal preference. Ours is clear with some patterns cut into it on the outside. It makes you keep the interior of the shower clean and neat since you, or anyone else who enters the bathroom can see in. We squeegee the inside of the door with each use, which is a little more effort, but reduces the needs for a major cleanup.

I've probably talked you into an etched (opaque) door.

Personally, I like the different types of "rain glass". It gives plenty of privacy, but the inside is a flat surface for easy squeegee use. My wife can't stand the feel of frosted, etched or sandblasted glass. It also seems a bit harder to get clean and streak free, to me.

I'm still going to go with the clear I think. It would show off our cool tile job and add more "room" to the bathroom. The only hesitation is the squeegee. Have you tried RainX (for cars)?

The other options is the special kind of etched where you don't see your fingerprints; not sure what it's called.

It seems like every bathroom design picture shows clear (probably since they don't worry about the clean-up!).

Would you go with clear again?

Clear glass in the shower - no way! Too hard to keep clean.

I was on the fence with this and went with the clear glass. So far I have no regrets. We'll see what it's like in a year :)
