The plumber roughed in my toilet flange, but now that the tile is in the flange does not extend above the surface. So I purchased a closet extension flange. My question is do I need to put a gasket or anything between the closet flange and the extension?

Thanks,
Nate

As I understand, and have done myself, put a good bead of silicon between the flanges, put screws in where required, then treat it like one flange.

The water draining out isn't under pressure, give it a place to go and it will.

How far under the tile is the flange? If the top of the flange is even with the top of the tile you could just get a number 10 no seep wax ring and just set the toilet without any problems. If the flange is too far under the tile where this won't work they make flange extenders to set on top, if you use these only use one and make sure you use a no seep wax ring (wax ring with a horn built in to make sure water goes into the flange correctly.) Hope this helps.

The flange is about 1/8" below the tile. I did get a wax ring with a horn, but it seems that an extension ring is still necessary to fill the gap.

With only an 1/8" gap I would use the flange extension with a no-seep wax ring, if needed they sell longer closet bolts if the regular ones do not work.
