Hi all,

I suffered anapylactic shock after eating something in a London restaurant a couple of weeks ago. The paramedics arrived rapidly and administered an adrenalin shot, but in the process my favourite suit got splattered with my blood :( . I didn't do anything about it immediately, but took it to the dry cleaners to see if they could help. They tried a number of chemicals on it and the stains have faded, but they're still clearly visible. Does anyone have any advice about what I can do to get it out?

Cheers,

Tim

I would have suggested a dry cleaners as the definitive method of removing the stain. Does the cleaners have any suggestions?

Hi Chris,

Unfortunately the dry cleaner couldn't offer any further advice.

My big concern is that the processes he used may have set the stain in the fabric further.

I tried cold salty water on it. It made a little bit of difference, but not much.

If anyone has any further ideas, I'd be grateful.

Go to a good local tailor (are you still in London?...I've heard there are a few there...lol), ask them who they would recommend you go to.

Hi Gunguy,

Yes I'm still in London, so will give that a go if nothing else works.

I've read elsewhere that you can use meat tenderiser, or a mixture of 15% amoonium, 15% glycerin and 70% cold water to remove a dried blood stain.

The advice on this site is:

Mix one teaspoon of a mild ph balanced detergent (a mild non alkaline non bleaching detergent) with a cup of ice cold water
Blot
Mix one tablespoon of household ammonia with a half cup of ice cold water
Blot
Sponge with clean ice cold water
Blot

Has anyone tried any of these methods to good effect?

i would say the dry cleaning process has set the stain...hydrogen peroxide being dabbed on a white non bleached rag would have worked when it was fresh
