Hello. I am looking to purchase a used pool table from a friend. How difficult is it to disassemble? Are there any detailed instructions available? Also is recovering a professional-only job? Thanks.

it all depends on the manufacturer of the pool table some are not very easy to dissasemble some are. use a level to set it back up.

Also depends on how old and how its constructed. We moved a 50 y/o Brunswick (?) 8ft table from a rec center to our building lounge, way back in the day. 3 piece 1 1/2" slate top. Each slab probably weighed several hundred pounds.
We disassembled, transported, and re-assembled, then called a company to seal the slate joints, level everything and re-cover it. If it's a heavy quality table, thats what I'd recommend.

We called a local pool table retailer and they gave us the name of someone who does all their work. It cost about $250, as they had to move it from one house to the next and cart the pieces up to our third floor. Well worth the investment, as you want it level, the slate to be intact, and the covering to be in good shape.
