I Have a whirlpool tub with a hose that leads to a pvc connector (1/2")that has broken loose. What is the proper glue to re-glue it. I can see some purple primer but I'm not sure if it was used to glue the connector into a siamese and the to the port, or if it was used to glue the hose the the fitting. The primer was slopped all over the fitting. The hose looks like garden hose in many respects. Should I think about a barbed fitting that would glue into the 1/2". I can clean up the fitting enough to glue a new 1/2" piece in, or the hose. The whirlpool brand is unknown. Help!

OK, this is an update. I was scared to try to re glue the hose to the fitting. Local hardware said the hose had a PVC component and could be solvent welded but there was no evidence of any penetration the first time it was tried. I did opt for the mechanical barbed fastener and clamp. As I suspected it was standard 1/2" fittings and the repair took only a few minutes. No more leak. The neighbors have their tub back after waiting for 5 years for the husband to fix it. He did glop silicone on every thing this winter and pronounced it fixed. I went to caulk the tub and lost several gallons into their garage. Reminds me of watching Red Green fix everything with duct tape. Thanks for reading. Dave
