Bathroom is 5x8. Lighting now provided by medicine cabinet with 4 bulb lighting strip. Lighting is fine with 4 (25 watt) bulbs on a dimmer. New cabinet to be installed is 7.25 inches and no lighting strip. I am having difficulty deciding on the correct extension needed for vanity /bahtroom wall scounce for above the cabinet. I asked around , I called , I went to stores , finally on one site I saw an eight inch deep cabinet that suggested a 12 inch extension fixture. I thought this was going to be simple. Do I need 12 inches? Secondly, in this small bathroom where this will be the only light source are CFL's (dimmable) appropiate? Relative to that , I have heard from many sources that CFL's don't last long in a bathroom, is this true?:thinker:

CFL?
I gather you ahve an electrical junction box where the light used to be? If so, install any light fixture you like, provided the cabinet is not in the way.
For a bathroom that size, a 75 watt incandescent lamp will work jsut fine, and its dimmable.

When modifying a bathroom and adding a circuit does the entire room have to be brought up to standard. Must all circuits be grounded.:alarm:

yes. GFI for all outlets within 6' of water sources.
You can use one GFI and make the other outlets the load side of the GFI. Line side is the side the power comes in on.
