My craftsman gas trimmer is 9 or 10 years old and has run great for me.Recently the pull string has started to slip and makes it difficult to start.Eventually it starts after 40 or 50 pulls. It seems to be getting worse. Is this something that can be tightened or needs replaced. And is it difficult to do myself?Any advice would be great.

When you say it slips, you mean it pulls out without turning the engine? If so, the plastic starter pulley is probably worn and with a low-end trimmer ~10 years old, I don't know if it's worth spending the money or time on it. If it's something you don't mind spending some time and just a few bucks on, then tear into it and see if that's what's wrong. I don't know what trimmer you have, so I can't give much detail, but most craftsmans are built similarly in the starter area.
