Welcome to the forums!

How big are the holes?

Those cellotex ceilings don't repair well. Minor holes can be caulked or even filled with a little joint compound but it is difficult to repair any sizable hole so the repair won't show :wall:

Any water stains should be sealed with a solent based primer. Latex sealers won't adequetly seal the stain - at least not long term.

If the ceiling is too rough to repair, I usually tear it down, reinforce the roof truss system [it only consists of 1x2s with scrap paneling for gussets] and hang drywall.

some of the holes are small enough for caulking but some of them are about 36" long and the same width. that's the part i'm having trouble with is the bigger ones.

With a lot of luck you might find an older MH that is being dismantled or remodeled and be able to aquire a piece big enough to fill the missing areas. Not all MH ceilings of that era have the exact same texture/design on the ceiling but it should be close. You would still have a seam to deal with.

The only other choice [other than replace entire ceiling] would be to screw a pice of drywall or plywood to cover the hole.

in one bathroom that had terrible stains and holes after remodel,, we applied the square stick on accoustic tiles,, looks good and stayed in place,, that is a do it yourself job. .just my idea anyway.
