I have an odd problem. I have a double switch in my kitchen that prodrudes out of the wall too far. moving the box further in isn't possible due to there being plywood behind it (it's a mobile contructed home). I am looking for a switchplate that will overlap the box and touch the wall. I'm wondering if there's something I can buy like this. maybe something that overlaps a lot that i can trim or something I can special order. thanks a head of time.

oh and the wall had wood paneling before and with it removed the box now sticks out further. It's already a pretty shallow box. maybe I can find an even shallower one instead of fussing with the plate cover but haven't had any luck yet.

How many cables enter the box? If the right number, you can possibly take a Rotozip and cut the protrusion off. But it can't reduce the cubic inch dimension requirement for the number of cables in the box.

I'm not sure I completely understand but I'm thinking that you could make a piece of wood to go around the elec box tha would allow the switch plate to lay flush. Something like a medalion you would use on a ceiling light fixture - except square....... if I understand correctly :D
