when doing a mortar pan for a shower, does the durarock on the sides of the shower stall go in first, then the mortar pan get built on that or is the durarock installed down to the finished pan. Secondly, I'm installing a two inch pvc drain and will a 1 1/2 inch vent be big enough. thanks, jim

From my limited experience, the pan first. You may want to get with the folks over at JohnBridge.com and his Tile forum.

As far as the vent is concerned, an 1 1/2" vent is perfect.
I have never installed a shower pan so I cannot answer that question. I would check with the tile guys.
