Working in the garden I spotted what appears to be termites in a retaining wall. There are mounds of saw dust...two places. The pests look like ants. The wall is in decent shape although quite old. I stain it every year.

I live in Ontario Canada. Can you recommend a pesticide?

Virch, they might also be carpenter ants. The first thing to do is a positive id so you know what to use. This Canadian site should be most helpful for that.

Boric acid might be a good option for treatement, but how you mix it and what you mix it with will depend on the pest you are trying to eliminate.
