My garbage dispaosal recently stopped working and now when the diswasher runs everything comes back up the drain into the sink and then slowley drains back out.
I turned the disposal on and it just hums for a couple seconds like something is stuck in it and then it trips the reset so I need to push the reset button on the bottom.
I looked down the drain and even reached in to see if I could feel anythingand there is nothing stuck in there . One of the blades turns freely and the other doesn't turn at all, not sure if thats how its supposed to be or not.
Any ideas before I crawl under the sink and attempt to take it out?

Hello
First off, MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF WHEN WORKING ON DISPOSAL !!!
DO you know what brand disposal it is?
If it is an ISE (In Sink Erator) there will be a little hole on the bottom of the disposal that you can use an hex wrench to manually turn the motor and free up the blades.
If there is no hex screw on the bottom, you will need to do this from the top with a long screwdriver or stick. Once they are free, try the disposal. If the motor still hums, replace the disposal.
There is also a red reset switch on the bottom, you can press it but if the motor is making a humming noise, this should not help you.

Thanks allot, I forgot all about the hex rench that was sitting in my drawer when we moved in. It even says "Food Waste Disposer" on it.
One turn and a press of the reset button on the bottom and everything is working again.
Thanks again!!
