My air conditioner has a leak. I am new to this stuff so if my terminology is wrong bear with me. It is dripping right where this metal pipe connects to the white pvc pipe. I guess this is the condensation line???. I have attached a couple of photos, one a close up of the leak and another a wider view to show the overall situation.

How should I go about fixing this? Should I just replace the coupler that connects the pvc to the metal pipe? Once I move stuff around will I weaken the other joints? Am I better off cutting that large section and then replacing from the whole final two bends?

Could this leak be a symptom of a clog that I should look into once I have the thing apart?

If anyone has any suggestions on how I should go about fixing it I would be greatly appreciative!

You have a fire hazzard there in that lennox pulse furnace - The flex gas line can be sawed open by what is called "chaffing" where it penetrates through the furnace cabinet. When the furnace is running, it naturally vibrates causing the sawing action. It is (often) a sharp edge or even a knockout which when felt could even cut your finger - It should be hard piped from the gas valve with 1/2 inch black pipe and joined by fitting to the flex gas line outside the furnace. Some service/installer techs will try and put Armaflex on the entry point of the cabinet on the flex gas line - hello! it will cut thru that too!

As for your leak problem - Its hard to say with a pic. Doesnt look like you have a trap or relief tee in the condensate for one thing. Yes...it could be clogged/partially or fully

I'll take that under advisement. For now I would like to focus on the leak.

I guess my question comes down to could the repair be as simple as replacing that coupler and sealing it properly? Or should I just go all the way and replace the pvc all the way to the drainage pipe ( just off to right, not shown in pic)?

"I would like to focus on the leak."

You dont need to worry about the leak if there is no house left to cool from the fire. That being said... hope you find your leak problem and correct it. It could be numerous things which the pic cant show. It most likely is clogged i guess - Could take the front panel off and inspect the drip pan for contamination - clean/vacume out using a wet dry vac and cut the pvc and vac it out in both directions - then reattach with 3/4"coupling and glue - Use sealant, sometimes called seal tight on the screw in fitting at the evaporator/not glue.

By the way - The furnace vibrates in the ac mode as it does in the heating mode. Doesnt matter if its summer or winter on that fire hazzard.
Have a great day!
