Hello - I need suggestions. I have 3 windows over our garden tub and I've just made 3 pretty valances that hang on 1X3s with L brackets to install snguly over the windows. I’ve successfully mounted all 3 valances with wood screws on the right sides but on the lefts when I drill I must be hitting metal or concrete or something that I can't drill into - at all. I can’t move the hardware (L brackets) b/c they fit tightly over the windows. And the rights are perfectly installed -- I hate to remove them, incase I damage the walls. Right now the valances are gently resting on the weight of the right mounting and the top of the blinds headboard.
I will try to link to a picture (I'm not sure I know how but here goes...)

What do you recommend? Is there a backside mount or a hidden mount or super magnet I can use for the left sides without causing damage to my perfect mounts on the right sides?

By the looks of your bath I would have no reason to think that your home is made of anything but normal wood or metal 2x4's..
I'm 99.9% sure you are not hitting any solid steel or concrete.. And if you were hitting concrete you should have at least 1'' of dead space between the drywall and concrete...
Since your having this problem on all 3 left sides its pretty safe to rule out this is electrical pipe unless you have 3 outlets on top of your bath tub.. If this is this case, invite your enemies over for a soak..
My first question would be are your right and left brackets both mounted at the same location in relation to your windows edges?
2nd is do you have any reason to believe or not believe that your house is framed with metal studs?
3rd is did you try to go through this obstacle with any sort of drill bit or self drilling screw.. did you use a normal drywall screw
4th how far did you get past the drywall before you hit this obstacle..
5th is the outside of your house brick by these windows
6th.. what did your right brackets screw in to? wood or hollow wall that you used plugs, mollys, etc etc
7th did you know that I love you for posting pics!!!!!! people never post em and I love you for this..
Im hoping you used plugs or mollys for your right brackets and now your just hitting an aluminum flashing for your window or a stud.. Im hoping this is the case and you can go right through this with a self drilling screw, or predrilling with a bit or by using a nice sharp screw..
If none of this helps and we are still at a loss then we whip out the liquid nails and let it sit for 24 hours..
Then we talk about the crazy house with stuff in the walls no installer has ever seen before..
Good luck and come back soon, let us know how it goes
