15 year old Tempstar - stopped working, won't cool, won't heat, fan won't work. Breaker appears to be oK. Started looking for reset button on the unit. Located main power switch on exterior of unit with a old looking time fuse. Glass on front looked discolored (likely burnt), however, unable to see copper wire or whatever it is to determine continuity. Tried to remove fuse but unable to remove with out forcing it. Anyone have any comments suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

Does the furnace/air handler blow air out your registers when you turn it on?
Since you mention only one fuse, is this fuse on the exterior of your furnace, or a fuse box near it?, or, the exterior a/c unit outside the house?
IF it is the furnace fuse, then you'd get no air to blow through the registers and no low voltage out to the ouside unit. So, it is important to clarify what part of the a/c unit you are focusing on; the furnace/air handler?, or the outside unit.
Fuses can be hard to get out sometime. I see nothing wrong with applying some more muscle to trying to get. If you use some tool (like pliers), make sure you do not contact hot wires inside the box!, and use rubber insulated gripped tool. Make sure the breaker is off and that that breaker is indeed to the fuse box and furnace!

Thanks ecman51
Little extra force came right out. I replaced the what come out of the fuse box (w 20 amp) with a (t 20 amp). i think this is acceptable. Seems to be working fine. Thanks again.
