We live in an split level home and are wanting to remove the wall between the dining/kitchen area and the formal living room. This wall does not appear to be load bearing since there isn't living space above this section of the house and in looking in the attic crawl space, it appears we have trusses that run perpendicular to the dividing wall and to the outside walls of the house. We are looking for advice on removing this wall and hopefully some pictures of other homes that have done this. Our hopes are to open the kitchen/dining room into the living room and replace the dividing wall with a breakfast bar or something similar. Any help would be WONDERFUL!!! Thanks!!!

It may not be a bearing wall but I would put a header in just the same. I know that would leave a column at the front end of the kitchen but I think it's needed.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
