Solid Hardwood, Engineered and Laminate Flooring - Undercutting jambs SW style

The style of my SW home is one where the drywall corners
are rounded. Doors also have rounded beading which fits
into a kerf in the door jamb (4.5" walls/3.5" door jamb)
leaving a door without casing trim around it. The true look
is to not have any moulding (drywall runs right to the floor)
which is not an option with wood floors. So I plan to run
moulding up to where the drywall bead begins its curve into
the door jamb.

So.............do I undercut the jamb up to the point where the
curve begins? And do I do the same for openings in
which there is no door (and therefore no jamb).

Ok, I think I have a visual of what you are talking about and my suggestion is to undercut in the door ways. You will get a much cleaner look! Use a piece of scrap hardwood flooring that is the same thickness as the flooring you are laying when making these cuts. You want the flooring to fit snuggly under the cut doorways, so if you are using a vapor barrier, make sure that you do NOT have any laid down (Vapor Barrier that is) when you make the undercut. That way you are assured a clean looking fit.
